6 Nuts You Must Take in Winters

Winter is the season in which one feels cold, less active, cold hands and feet, flu and sleepy all day. When we are seeing less daylight, our pineal glands respond to the lack of sunshine by producing melatonin, the sleep hormone that can make use feel ready to sleep. This makes us more prone to weight gain and other problems like heart attack, cholesterol, hypothyroid, diabetes, and asthma. Here we are going to discuss the nuts and their benefits that can cure problems and diseases which occur in the winter season.

1. Almonds

In Winters, a handful of almonds are sufficient to provide heat to the body and decrease hunger pangs. They are also excellent for diabetic patients as they help to reduce the amount of insulin needed by diabetic patients. Since they are rich in various nutrients like vitamin E and magnesium, therefore, they help to cure heart disease, prevent metabolic syndrome and help in curing diseases like constipation, indigestion, cough, bronchitis, and asthma.

2. Walnuts

Walnuts come under the category of superfoods as they are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and full of antioxidants. They reduce heart disease and also improve mood swings. Walnuts are beneficial as their vitamin E content keeps the skin moist and omega 3 fatty acid makes hair good and healthy.

3. Pine Nuts

Pine nuts or chilgoza is one of the most wonderful nuts in our Indian foods as it is rich in magnesium, potassium, calcium, iron, zinc, and antioxidants. So this winter, have a handful of pine nuts to make your skin glow as it contains an excellent amount of Vitamin E, reduces your food cravings and helps in maintaining weight and is also good for improving the lipid profile.

4. Cashew Nut

Cashew nut contains some hidden minerals like selenium (which works as an antioxidant), copper and zinc (for growth and development). Cracked heels are a common problem during winters and cashew nut oil helps in nourishing the heels. They are rich in Vitamin E and possess anti-aging properties which will keep you glowing this winter.


Pistachio or Pista nut is good for those who are suffering from skin and hair issues in winters. Since pista is packed with many important vitamins of B group, therefore, it helps in increasing the blood count.

6. Foxnuts

Foxnut is one of the most superior nuts amongst all others as it is not only used as a snack but also as a medicine. Foxnut has properties to cure the major to minor problems that usually suffer in winters, from maintaining healthy skin to avoid premature greying hair and is also good for the people who are suffering from arthritis, PCOD (women infertility), Diabetes and High BP.
