For centuries we have believed in certain food habits that now need to be adjusted and reformed according to the changing aspects of lifestyle, habits, and environment. Sugar is present in all food items that have carbohydrates, such as- fruits, vegetables, and dairy products. Our body digests these food items at a slow pace, the sugar present in these items are slowly used by our bodies as energy for our cells to function.

Added sugars are those sugars that manufacturers add to food and beverage items to enhance flavor or extend shelf life etc.
To overcome the problems related to the usage of added and excessive sugar, we must include certain naturally available substitutes that are much healthier and have lower or no health implications related to it.
How can we substitute added sugar in our daily life?
There are different types of substitutes available for use that are proven to be a good substitute for sugar:

It has some great health benefits apart from being a better sweetener than sugar, It is proven to be helpful for digestion of food, it is helpful in asthma, cough, cold, relaxing muscles, it contains vitamins and minerals and several other qualities that make it a great substitute.
*Unprocessed Honey: Raw honey is full of vitamin B6, enzymes, zinc, iron, calcium antioxidants, and numerous other health benefits that bring in unprocessed honey as a fine substitute to sugar.
*Dates: dates are a rich source of magnesium, potassium, copper, iron, etc. These are helpful in decreasing cholesterol levels in the blood and hence decrease the possibilities of strokes at large.
*Coconut sugar: A rich source of iron, potassium, and antioxidants, it has low glycaemic capacity making it a better and easily available alternative for sugar.
*Maple syrup: It is a very popular natural sweetener around the world, apart from being a tasty popular sweetener it has several health benefits as well, it contains manganese, zinc, iron, calcium, and has antioxidants.
*Monk Fruit: This small green fruit is a safe sweetener for diabetic people. Monk fruit is one of the best natural alternatives to sugar also has inflammatory properties, it has nil calories and helps in weight loss.
