Herbal Teas and infusions can be prepared at home to Boost Immunity
Herbal teas are not exactly tea, they are made from many parts of the plant except the real tea (Camellia Sinensis). They have been used for hundreds of years, but for us, they have regained popularity again in recent times. Everybody falls in love with aroma, taste, medicinal properties and easiness to make! Herbal teas are considered to boost our immunity. Ginger, tulsi, mint, even pepper, and cinnamon, cloves are all extremely healthy and helpful for boosting immunity. The term ‘herbal tea’ is a misnomer. You can make an herbal tea by – roots, flowers, leaves, seeds, fruit, really whatever you desire.
How to Make Your Herbal Tea
Add roots and herbs in water and let it boil for a few minutes, allowing the essences to get into the water. Or you can be pouring boiling water over leaves and allowing them to steep.
Herbal Tea Recipes:
1. Ginger Snack
It is helpful in cold and cough, and fever. The heat from the ginger helps slay the germs and the honey soothes the sore throat. It also heals stomach ailments; ginger and cinnamon are particularly helpful in alleviating the symptoms of the stomach.
1 tsp ginger root, grated
1 1/ 2 tsp honey
2 cloves
1-inch piece cinnamon bark
3-inch orange peel
Method: Boil 1 cup of water. Next, add in all the ingredients and let everything steep for about fifteen minutes. Strain into a cup and drink.
2. Lemon and Pepper Tea
This is excellent for detoxing the system and for reducing joint pains for arthritis. This is used for losing inches and fat loss.
1 Lemon (Juice it)
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1/4 tsp pepper
1 to 1/2 tsp honey
Method: Placing both turmeric and pepper (in the given quantity) in the cup, add boiling water over it. Lemon and Honey can also be added.
3. Ashwagandha Tea
It is a magic herb that helps boost the immune system by stabilizing blood sugar and reduces anxiety and stress.
5-inch piece dried ashwagandha root, approximately
1 tsp honey
Method: Wash and then boil the root in a cup of water, allow it to boil for about 15 to 20 minutes. Strain into a cup and then stir in the honey.
4. Tulsi Tea
Tulsi boosts your immunity and kills germs, it helps to heal skin disorders. It also balances blood sugar.
1/4 cup basil
1 tsp honey
2 tsp lemon juice
Method: Put the basil leaves into a pan with one and a quarter cups of water. Bring to a boil. Bring the flame to low for at least 15 mins. Strain it into a cup.
5. Mint Tea
This mint and rosemary combination makes a very refreshing combination and helps to improve memory. It’s also good for stomach upset.
10 mint leaves
1 rosemary
A squeeze lemon, optional
Method: Add mint leaves into a cup, while setting a pan of water to boil. Once boiled, pour the water on the mint and let it for ten minutes. Add lemon, if required.
