COVID- 19 is an infectious disease caused by a coronavirus. People who get infected with this disease will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness. People who are older, children, who have underlying medical issues like diabetes, asthma, cardiovascular disease, and cancer are more prone to get this disease. Good and healthy lifestyle practices may help to fight against COVID -19. For children, a healthy balanced diet and good hygiene are very important to fight against COVID 19. There are certain things which help in increasing the immunity of your child like:

Natural immunity supplements: Include natural immunity-boosting supplements like turmeric, ginger, and gooseberries (amla) which contain antioxidants and should be included in the food. Several herbs like garlic, black cumin, and basal leaves which helps in boosting the immunity. Certain nuts and seeds like flax seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and melon which are the good source of protein and vitamin E.
Probiotics: Probiotics like yogurt, Yakult, and fermented foods like idli, dosa, dhokla, etc should be included in the diet because they are excellent sources to rejuvenate the composition of gut bacteria, which is important for nutrition absorption by the body.
Stay hydrated: Encourage your child to drink at least 12-15 glasses of water in a day, to stay hydrated. Hydration will help out to flushes the toxin from the body and lower the chances of infections. Other alternatives like juices of citrus fruits, coconut water can also be included in the diet.
Physical activities: A good diet should be followed by a daily exercise routine. As in this pandemic situation, we do not allow the child to go outside of the house but they can do some physical exercises at home only. So, encourage your child to do some physical activities like aerobics, Zumba, walk, etc at home for at least 30-40 mins. These physical activities not only make your child fit but improves metabolism also, which has a direct correlation with body immunity.

- Decoction or kadhai which is made from tulsi, cinnamon, black pepper, dried ginger, raisins, and jaggery should be consumed once or twice in a day.
