Monsoon season can help to lose some extra weights

Monsoon is the favorite season for all. It’s a relief from the sweltering summer and an excuse to drink hot cups of tea and enjoy savory snacks. As the rain pours down it becomes difficult to step out to exercise and it is easy to pack on some extra fat during this time. This is one of the negative sides of the season otherwise it’s a lovely season for all.

Weight loss is as easy as our next meal. It is not rocket science. It is just about giving ourselves a little bit of time then we can see the positive pattern emerging in our dietary habits with results that are sustainable and long-lasting.

Dietary Rules for monsoon

  • Easily digestible, hot & light food should be included
  • Consume foods having sour, sweet, and salty tastes.
  • Include ginger, garlic, black pepper, asafoetida, and lemon in the diet for better digestion.
  • Prefer cooked vegetables than eating raw salads.
  • Have legumes like moong dal, chickpea, corn, gram flour, and vegetables like bottle gourd, snake gourd, okra, etc.

Proper hydration

Drinking plenty of water is the key to lose weight. Water eliminates the toxins from the body. It also helps in digestion and we can include herbal teas and detox juices also.

Ginger tea –   Having ginger tea can help us lose some weight. Ginger is excellent to boost immunity and throat.  Add black pepper, clove, and cinnamon in your tea for additional benefits.  Using less sugar and milk this herbal tea could also help us lose some kilos.

Include Soups at the dinner meal

A bowl of hot soup can come in handy to make you feel strong and at the same time, it offers protection. It keeps the body hydrated and can also be a good source of protein. Toppings of garlic, onions, and ginger impart a warm feel and keep the snug as the weather becomes a bit chilly.

Good Seep

Speedy metabolism is needed for weight loss. Getting at least 7-9 hours of shut-eye can help this along. The body recuperates during sleep and this ensures food is processed as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Include bitter-tasting vegetables and herbs to stay fit and healthy during the monsoon season. Add bitter gourd, fenugreek, and turmeric to help keep infections at bay.

  • Fruits: Eat plenty of fruits that are seasonal and available locally. Fruits to incorporate this monsoon:
  • Jamun has many nutritional values, add in midmorning fruits.
  • Litchis are a good source of vitamins that increase the immune system. The polyphenols oilstones have antioxidant and anti-influenza properties. These are good for skin also.
  • Plums: Plums are rich in vitamin C  that help in preventing infections. High in fiber and good for digestion.
  • Cherries: Cherries are rich in antioxidants which act as anti-inflammatory agents.
  • Peaches: A low-calorie fruit with good amounts of Vitamin A and vitamin C which is essential for healthy skin in the monsoon and also boosts immunity.
  • Apples, Guavas, and Pears: High in fiber, phytonutrients, and low on calories.
  • Pomegranate and Papaya: Rich in fiber and antioxidant.
