Ingredients:

  • Yellow Moong dal, ½ Cup
  • Organic Cow’s Ghee, 5-6 tbsp
  • Rava, ½ tbsp
  • Water, ½ Cup
  • Milk, ½ Cup
  • Saffron strands, 1 Pinch
  • Stevia, 50 g
  • Cardamom powder, ½ tsp
  • Almonds, 6 finely chopped
  • Pistachios, 6 finely chopped

Method of Preparing Moong Dal Halwa Recipe:

Step 1: Preparation

Rinse moong dal twice and soak for 30 minutes. Drain the water and blend the dal. Blend it until it becomes smooth inconsistency.

Step 2: Fry the Moong Dal

To a non-stick pan or kadhai, add Organic cow’s ghee and heat it. Add Rava or suji and fry it until it becomes light brown. Now transfer the ground moong dal and begin to mix it with Rava and ghee. Keep the flame to medium and stir continuously to avoid lumps formation. Do this for 15 mins till the mixture turns into deep golden color.

Step 3: Making Halwa

Pour the milk, water, and saffron strands and keep the flame low. Keep stirring until the liquids are absorbed. When the mixture turns thick add Stevia. Mix it well and add cardamom powder in it (you can add here little ghee also). Adding ghee at this stage makes it easy for sauteing. Mix and cook it till the halwa begins to leave the sides of the utensil. Now, Put it into a big bowl, garnish it with chopped almonds and pistachios and serve Hot!
