PROTECT YOUR HEART AND PREVENT SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST

Heart is a very important organ that continuously pumps the oxygen and nutrients to the different parts of the body through the blood. It is very important to have a healthy heart for the sustainability of life and so it is the hardest working muscular organ throughout our
lifespan.

The heart, blood vessels and capillaries together form the circulatory system and bring about the pulmonary, systemic and coronary circulation. It supplies the oxygenated blood rich in hormones, glucose and other nutrients to the different parts of the body. At the same time the deoxygenated blood rich in carbon dioxide is also brought back to the heart and further given out through the lungs. This way it also controls the blood pressure, protects vital organs like the kidney and brain. To perform all these functions the cardiac muscles also
need the oxygenated blood which it gets through the blood flow.

If we do not take care of our heart health it can cause diseases like hypertension, stroke, arrhythmia, heart valve diseases, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. The alarming symptoms include chest pain, tightness in the chest, irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath,
numbness, swelling in the legs, ankle, feet, fatigue, insomnia and dizziness.

Ayurveda says that by practising heart healthy herbs, aahaar(food) and vihar(lifestyle) we can protect our heart as it is the pumping station of blood in the whole body. The following measures will help to protect heart health –

1 – RHODODENDRON FLOWER INFUSION- It is a flower loaded with minerals and vitamins that has many health benefits as it is antioxidant by nature. It also aids in detoxification, improves the skin texture, digestion and cardiovascular health and is also anti-inflammatory. So, consuming it in the form of tea will be healthy, healing and specially protective for the
heart by reducing internal inflammation.

2 – AMLA – Amla has both healthy and healing properties for heart health. It is rich in antioxidants and helps to build health by providing  nutrition in the form of Vitamin C, magnesium, Vitamin A and Vitamin K., cholesterol and triglycerides. It increases the oxygen
carrying capacity of the blood and thus protects us from various Cardiovascular Disorders

3 – ABC SMOOTHIE- A smoothie made with a combination of heart healthy ingredients like Apple, Beetroot and Carrots blended with water can be consumed to protect the heart. It boosts up the immunity, digestion, detoxifies the body system and most importantly is an
antioxidant for maintaining heart health. The rich sources of antioxidants found in this drink protects our heart from cardiovascular disorders and sudden heart attacks.

4 – EAT HEART HEALTH PROTECTIVE DIET – A diet which is rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, lean meats, unsaturated form of oils like homemade cow ghee, extra virgin olive oil and cold pressed coconut oil improves the blood pressure and prevents
cardiovascular disorders. A low salt and sugar diet, refined carbohydrates, alcohol, smoking and trans fats deteriorate the heart health.

5 – PHYSICAL ACTIVITY – Lack of physical activity is the main cause of obesity which is a condition that leads to heart diseases. A regular physical aerobic or anaerobic exercise, yoga and meditation tones up the cardiac muscles and keeps the heart healthy.

Heart is one of the vital organs of our body and the primary organ of the circulatory system. A negligence to heart health can be fatal to us, so taking care through food, lifestyle and herbs will keep it pumping and beating.
