Diabetes is a disorder that requires a lot of changes and restrictions in our diets a major part to be restricted is simple carbohydrates (bread, sugar, refined flour) that also consist of lots of foods that are sweet in taste, thus diabetics have so avoided sweets but for someone who loves sweet this can be quite depressing, this quarantine can also make it more difficult cause boredom will give birth to cravings.

This is a myth that in diabetes we cannot eat anything that tastes sweet but if the right choices are made, consuming in moderation at the right time even we can enjoy something sweet. Fruits are one option that can be considered to curb our sugar cravings 1-2 serving of few fruits will not harm but will give vitamins and minerals to us along with fiber however one should avoid juices as they don’t have the fiber part and they can make your sugar levels rise instantly.

Fruit does have carbohydrates, such as the simple sugar fructose so the selection of fruits is very important. Include skin also and flesh they contain fiber, which fills you up, reduces your risk for heart disease, stroke, obesity, and helps control your blood glucose. A diet high in soluble fiber can slow the absorption of sugar and control its levels in the blood. Canned fruits are a big no only fresh and frozen fruits should be chosen only also not dried fruits (apple etc.).

Here are some options that you can choose if you want to curb your cravings without harming your health

  1. Apple – Apples are nutritious and tasty can be used as a raw snack or dessert .1 small apple contains approx. 15 grams of carbohydrates, lots of antioxidants, and fiber. You can consume 1 small apple. It will just have a slight effect on sugar so it’s safe.
  1. Pear- Pears can be delicious and are an extraordinary organic product to eat on the off chance that you have diabetes. Their wholesome advantages can really assist you in dealing with the condition, the same number of studies demonstrate. Pears additionally have a low glycemic file, so they won’t raise your blood glucose too quickly.
