The focus should be on eating more of the right plants, eliminating unhealthy foods, and moderating your intake of healthier animal products. A healthy plant-based meal consists of proper portions of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, healthy protein, and healthy oils. Plants have essential nutrients that we cannot get from other foods. If embracing a fully plant-based diet feels frightening, then begin with a small change. Making small changes in your diets, such as reducing the animal food intake by one to two servings per day and replacing it with whole grains, pulses, legumes, or nuts and seeds as your protein source, can have long term positive effects on your health.

Many health benefits can be seen by adopting a plant-based diet which are as follows:

Thus to reduce inflammation, it is important to consume plant-based options and to listen to your body’s signals for how foods work for you.

  3. Fiber-Rich: A healthy Gut: Eating a plant-based diet helps improve your gut health so you are better able to absorb the nutrients from the food that reduces inflammation and supports your immune system. Fiber also helps to lower cholesterol levels and improve bowel functioning.
